Eastern Upper Peninsula Snowmobile Adventures
Sault Ste. Marie and the entire Eastern Upper Peninsula has become a Mecca for snowmobile enthusiasts. The Upper Peninsula was voted best overall snowmobiling area, most scenic snowmobiling area, best trail riding, best powder riding and most challenging riding area in 2002 by the Snow Goer magazine at its Annual Snow Time awards.
The local Snowmobile Association grooms more than 60 miles of snowmobile trails within Chippewa County alone. The groomed trail within the city limits runs past the Plaza Motor Motel roughly following 1-75 Business Spur. The city trail not only enables easy access to restaurants and gas stations but to the new snowmobile tunnel beneath 1-75 to the trails to the West.
Our trail system gives groomed trail access to virtually every corner of the Eastern Upper Peninsula. Trails are groomed seven days a week during the snowmobile season. Our snowmobile season generally runs January through March and some years can extend into April.
